At 7.30am: We pick you up at your hotel in HCM. Leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City behind and travel by private transport toward Can Gio Biosphere Reserve, often called the “green lungs” of southern Vietnam. It’s a peaceful escape into nature, where rivers, mangroves, and wildlife thrive side by side

• Crossing the River by Local Ferry: Feel the gentle breeze as you cross the river on a local ferry, a typical experience for people living in southern Vietnam. You’ll get a glimpse of daily life- fishermen repairing their nets, locals carrying goods, and children waving as you pass by.

• Visit the Mangrove Nature Reserve: This vast reserve is part of Can Gio’s UNESCO-protected biosphere, home to thousands of mangrove trees that protect the coastline and provide shelter to rich wildlife. You’ll walk along shaded trails surrounded by the sounds of birds and cicadas — a true immersion in nature.

• Explore the Viet Cong Historical Base: Hidden deep in the mangrove forest lies a former Viet Cong base, once used during the The Resistance War Against the United States for National Salvation. Here, you’ll see reconstructed bunkers, command rooms, and boats used for secret missions. The tranquil forest setting contrasts sharply with the stories of resilience and courage from that time.

• Walking into the Forest (4 km return): Enjoy a peaceful 4-kilometer walk through the heart of the forest. The air is fresh, the path shaded by mangroves, and the silence only broken by the call of birds or the rustle of monkeys jumping between branches. It’s the best way to connect with nature and slow down your pace.

• Speedboat Ride (Optional): For those who love adventure, take an optional speedboat ride through narrow mangrove canals (extra cost: 1,000,000 VND per family). Glide over calm waters surrounded by dense forest- it’s a thrilling way to see the reserve from a different perspective.

• Watch Half-Wild Crocodiles: Stop by a crocodile conservation area where you can safely observe half-wild crocodiles in their natural habitat. It’s both educational and exciting- a rare opportunity to see these powerful creatures up close.

• Play with Over 2,000 Monkeys: The highlight of your trip — Monkey Island, home to around 2,000 long-tailed macaques freely roaming the area. They’re curious, playful, and sometimes mischievous! You can feed them, watch their funny behavior, and enjoy lots of laughter. Just keep an eye on your belongings — they love shiny things and might “borrow” your hat or sunglasses!

• Lunch at a Local Restaurant: After the morning exploration, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local riverside restaurant. The menu features fresh seafood and local specialties cooked in traditional southern style — simple, hearty, and full of flavor.

• Visit the Whale Temple: In many coastal villages of southern Vietnam, fishermen worship whales as sacred guardians of the sea. At the Whale Temple, you’ll learn about this unique cultural belief and see impressive whale skeletons preserved as a symbol of protection and gratitude.

• Visit the Local Seafood Market: Next, stop at a vibrant seafood market, where fresh crabs, prawns, clams, and fish are brought straight from the sea. It’s a colorful, bustling spot full of local life and friendly smiles. You can observe how the fishermen trade their daily catch and discover some unique ingredients of Vietnamese coastal cuisine.

• Return to Ho Chi Minh City- After a full day immersed in nature, wildlife, and local culture, relax as your driver takes you back to the city. You’ll arrive with unforgettable memories of a unique part of southern Vietnam- where history, nature, and adventure come together.
